How does Irlen Syndrome relate to fatigue?

As soon as the sun comes up or we turn on the lights, that light shines in our eyes and is used by the brain to help process what our eyes are seeing into images that it can understand

For people with Irlen Syndrome their brain has difficulty processing all the wavelengths (colours) of light efficiently and so the brain has to work overtime to correctly process the images. The brain and eyes in people with Irlen Syndrome are also more sensitive to bright light which comes from devices such as computers, I-pads and mobile phones or from artificial light such as fluorescent lighting which is used in most schools or offices.

This sensitivity creates an overstimulation of the visual pathways and visual cortex, leading to brain and eye fatigue, brain fog and even physical exhaustion.

Irlen lenses filter out the offending wavelengths of light calming the visual cortex resulting in a brain that is more efficient and has to work less and so is therefore less fatigued.
